It’s hard to tell where the indoors end and the outdoors start at this spacious entertainer’s home on the Mornington Peninsula. Incorporating four sets of wide-spanning bi-fold doors, the extensive outdoor areas seamlessly merge with the indoor kitchen, dining and living spaces to create a large multiple-use space.

Located in Dromana, just a block from the Port Phillip Bay foreshore and popular Safety Beach, this entertainer’s haven offers a variety of indoor and outdoor relaxation areas from which to enjoy the holiday destination. Whether formal dining, outdoor lounging or sitting by the pool café style, the range of spaces leaves the occupants spoilt for choice.

With three indoor pavilions centred on the pool area, three different types of doors from the Carinya ranges were bought into play: Select Bi-Fold Doors, Select Hinged Doors and Classic Sliding Doors. Four sets of Select Bi-Fold Doors span the primary opening which connects the main interior space to the undercover exterior. Stacking effortlessly to one side when open, the flat sill of the doors creates a smooth transition between the areas at floor level, while still providing a robust and effective weather-seal when closed.

Available in either top or bottom rolling systems, Select Bi-Fold doors feature a consistent 85mm wide face and commercial-grade componentry for durable operation. The bottom rolling option removes the need for a structural beam, which can be desirable in the renovation environment, while the top rolling system is ideal for new builds.

Two types of Carinya windows feature around the home: the Classic Awning 92mm Frame and the Classic Sliding Window Frame. The tall awning windows encourage good airflow in the bedrooms and utility areas thanks to their top mounted hinge which allows them to remain open even in wet weather. Out-of-the-way chain winders at floor-level restrict the openings, while at the same time keeping the home secure. The Classic Sliding Window Frames were used in locations where it was desirable to not have the window opening outwards, such as adjacent to pathways.
